Fred Mitchell

Fred Mitchell's paintings are orderly, painterly structures. Profoundly abstract in approach, they nonetheless gesture in every objective direction, and his symbols, though abstract in their particular incorportions, seem constantly on the verge of the open evocation of the evetyday. Though frequently classed as an abstract painter, Mr. Mitchell has never lost touch with nature.
